General Pathology - 2 (SGS361/SGS361n)

General Pathology 2 course aims to:

-Familiarize students with the basic disease patterns and their underlying mechanisms within the specific organ systems as a step to prepare the students for their clinical courses.

-To promote life long competencies necessary for continuous professional development

General Pathology - 1 (SGS351n - SGS351)

General Pathology 1 course aims to:

- familiarize students with the basic disease patterns and their underlying mechanisms within the specific organ systems as a step to prepare the students for their clinical courses.

-To promote life long competencies necessary for continuous professional development.

Statistics (SGS116n)

The aim of this course is to introduce to students the types of statistics, population versus sample, the central tendency measures (mean, median, and mode), and measurements of dispersion (range, variance, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation) and to give students basic knowledge of principals of research design, some standard probability distributions; types of variables, sampling distribution and random samples, sample size and estimation of population parameters. The course also trains students to implement the experimental design, statistical hypotheses and put them to the test, implement tests of significance, and perform analysis of variance as well as regression and correlation to biological studies.

Oral Biology -1 (HPT231z)

This course is designed to provide the dental student with current, basic knowledge of the development, structure and function of the tooth and para tooth soft and hard tissues. The mechanisms of organic matrix formation and mineralization of hard dental tissues. The age changes of hard and soft dental and Para dental tissues.

This course fulfils SDG3 which is good health and well being.

General Anatomy-1

This course aims to provide comprehensive knowledge of the basic structure of the human body and its clinical significance.  The course provides a strong foundation for future studies.  The course deals with human morphology in a systematic approach that starts with the cellular level of organization followed by tissue, organ and system levels. This course fulfills which is good health and well being.

General Histology-1

The main objective of this course is to define and understand the functional structure of cells and the basic tissues of the human body and its clinical significance and application, and to inform the students about the different histological tools and techniques.

Descriptive Dental Anatomy-1 (HPT111z)

This course is designed to provide the dental student with the necessary knowledge to define introductory dental terminology. Recognize the functions of the human teeth and utilize the correct names and universal code numbers of each permanent and deciduous tooth. The course also provides the student with the general and specific features of permanent anterior teeth, premolars and molars.

Descriptive Dental Anatomy-2 (HPT121/HPT121n)

This course is designed to provide the dental student with the necessary knowledge to differentiate between deciduous and permanent teeth. This includes the correct dental terminology when discussing the general and specific features of the deciduous teeth. The course will also provide the dental student with the basic knowledge about centric occlusion and its relationship to the different movements of the mandible.

Descriptive Dental Anatomy-1 (HPT111n)

This course is designed to provide the dental student with the necessary knowledge to identify the definitions of introductory dental terminology. The course also allows the student to recognize the functions of the human teeth. The student will be able to utilize the correct names and universal code numbers of each permanent and deciduous tooth. The course also provides the student with the general and specific features of permanent teeth.

Oral Biology-2 (HPT241/HPT241n)

This course is designed to provide the dental student with current, basic knowledge of the oral and Para oral tissues histology and physiology. The course will deal with the physiological events that happen in the oral cavity as; salivation, eruption and shedding and their clinical considerations. Also the course will give the basic knowledge about human embryology with special reference to the oral and Para oral tissues and organs development.
